Greeting Reader, Yesterday I talked about how thousands of Black businesses may close their doors next year, not because they aren’t talented, passionate, or motivated… but because they aren’t strategic. And today I woke up thinking about something that’s been on my mind for a long time: Emotion and passion can FUEL your business — Most of us were taught to work hard. All of that matters. But here’s the truth nobody taught us: Emotion moves you, but Strategy directs you. And when a business is run primarily on emotion — And unpredictable businesses don’t survive economic uncertainty. This is why so many Black businesses struggle even when the owner is brilliant, talented, and motivated: They’re building on hustle, not strategy. They’re reacting, not planning. They’re driven by passion, but not guided by a game plan. And passion with no plan leads to burnout, not breakthrough. This is exactly why I’ve been talking so much about Hidden Assets, Untapped Opportunities, Partnerships, Joint Ventures, and Strategic Alliances — because these are strategic levers that help you thrive even when the economy is shaking. This isn’t about working harder. It’s about thinking smarter. Strategy isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what matters. Talk soon, Bro. Bedford, M.O.B. Boss P.S. Good Morning! Good Morning! Good Morning! Reader, This past weekend I traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was invited to speak at a Juneteenth event and while things didn't quite unfold as planned, I left with something even more valuable than a speaking engagement. I left with perspective. For the first time, I had the opportunity to visit Black Wall Street and tour the Greenwood Rising Museum. As I walked through the exhibits and reflected on the history, one thought kept coming back to me:...
